On September 12, 2024, in Odesa, a free training session was held for activists, accountants, and leaders of civil society and charitable organizations on the legal aspects of the activities of civil society organizations (CSOs).
The seminar featured experts from our analytical center: Yulia Panura, a consultant on taxes and finance, and Dmytro Yaprakh, a consultant on legal support for freedom of association. They shared insights in simple, understandable terms, addressing the following questions:
- Legal Foundations for Establishing CSOs. Regulatory Barriers in Their Activities
- Reporting of Civil Associations and Charitable Organizations
"Establishing new NGOs/CSOs is more relevant than ever," emphasized Dmytro Yaprakh in his presentation. The expert also outlined potential ways to address existing obstacles, including complicated registration procedures, inadequate funding, legal restrictions, and weak state support.
Yuliia Panura, in turn, highlighted the importance of complying with current legislation when accounting for and reporting on operations related to the import of humanitarian aid by CSOs and the use of the automated humanitarian aid registration system.
The event was attended by over 15 civil society organizations and local activists who plan to establish their own NGOs.
We Will Return. It turned out that local civil society representatives need more knowledge on topics like social entrepreneurship and humanitarian aid, so we do not say goodbye to Odesa, but rather "see you again."
The event was organized by the Ukrainian Independent Center for Political Research as part of the Ukraine Civil Society Sectoral Support Activity, supported by USAID - the US Agency for International Development, in partnership with the Odesa Regional State Administration and the NGO "Odesa Defense 2.0."
